Abstract:
In 1959, the Council for Economic Planning and Development began to take a serious attitude on the development of the petrochemical industry in Taiwan. The discovery of natural gas reserves in Jinshuei (in Maoli County) took local petrochemical industries a step further. In 1962, a carbamide plant was built, becoming the first petrochemical plant in Taiwan.
