"Pan Wen-yuan, born in in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province on July 15, 1911, received a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the Shanghai campus of National Jiatong Univeristy and a doctoral degree in electrical engineering from Stanford Univeristy. Pan has devoted his career to the research of eletronic engineering and won fame and applause from the world. Mr. Pan has made great efforts to cultivate talents, help the development of IC industry in Taiwan, lay the foundation ofr the nation's modern engineering technologies, and encourage academic interchanges. In recognition of his contribution, National Jiatong University has decided to grant Pan the ""outstanding alumni award"".
