*Skyline with high-rises

Skyline with high-rises Taipei 101, the world’s first multi-section skyscraper, integrates both Oriental and Occidental architectural elements. The building is 508 meters high and the main steel structure weighs up to 107000 metric tons. The leading steel maker in Taiwan, China Steel also participated in the production of steel materials for the construction of the building. To meet the needs of the ultra-tall and slender structure, the engineering team developed a super strong and thick construction steel panel, CNS SM570M, which was rated by Discovery Channel as being at the top of the world’s seven wonders of engineering. It is steel that makes high-rise buildings possible and brings a new look to the city skyline. Without steel, life would be very different.

*Taipei 101 has the world’s largest tuned mass damper, a huge 660-ton solid steel ball with a diameter of 5.5 meters. Suspended from the 92nd to the 88th floor, it can help reduce effects of strong winds or earthquakes.
